Reconstruction vs. Routine Maintenance
|
Depending on the condition of your dreadlocks they may be past the state of routine maintenance and will need what I refer to as "reconstruction" maintenance. This means that your roots are connected (kongos & bridging), you have an excess amount of loose hair around all of your dreadlocks, or your dreadlocks just need a complete makeover like the dreadlocks shown below.
For reconstruction, it's best to make a follow up in 6-8 weeks to make sure everything is locking properly and the manipulations stay in place. Some dreadlocks take more time than others to get in the swing of things, but be patient and dedicated to your dreads and they will be feeling and looking better than ever! I do not use any products when physically maintaining your dreadlocks. At home care involves moisturizing the scalp with dreadlock safe products that so not leave residue or build up. Please do not use waxes or gels on your dreadlocks if you are receiving services by me. |
